In humans beings, breathing begins with the nostrils which is the gateway of the air into our body when air rich in oxygen is taken into the body. Mucus is released from the inner lining of the nose constantly which traps the dust particles. The hair in the inner lining also traps the dust. In this process, air becomes warm, moist and clean and goes through the pharynx to trachea which is also known as wind pipe. The trachea then branches into two tubes called bronchi which leads to the lungs. Inside the lungs, the bronchii divides into smaller tubes called bronchioles which ends up with tiny sacs called alveoli. The oxygen from the alveolus enters blood through bood vessels. The oxygen present in the air combines with haemoglobin present in blood to form oxyhaemoglobin which is used up by cells. The same process is followed for carrying away carbon dioxide from body.
