The oily layer on top of the plant makes it difficult for the plant to allow it's stomata to open. Thus , there is great difficulty in the opening of the stomata.

The Gaseous exchange: As mentioned above when the stomata remains closed all the time there will be no gaseous exchange which will later delay or prevent other vital processes such as photosynthesis

Lack of carbon dioxide and Sunlight: The Lack of carbon dioxide leads to delay in Photosynthesis and the lack of Sunlight leads to the disintegration of chlorophyll which ultimately leads to the death of the plant.

Frying: When we use oil on top of the plant leaf and keep it in direct sunlight, the sunlight can destroy the plant by frying it's leaves.
