Characteristics of desert soil are-
1. They are also called Arid soil.
2. They are found in hot and dry areas of Western Rajasthan.
3. It's colour ranges from red to brown.
4. They are sandy in texture.
5. They have high concentration of salt due to high rate of evaporation.
6. Lower layers of arid solis have a layer of Kanker or calcium content which prevents the seepage of water.
7. Arid or desert soils have lack of humus due to scarcity of vegetation.
8. These soils need to be ploughed deeply by turning soil upside down.
9. With adequate irrigation, desert soils can be cultivated.
10. Mainly cactus is grown in this area.
