❄❄❄❄ TESTES ❄❄❄❄

✔ A man has a pair of testes (singular : testis).

✔ These are oval in shape.

✔ They lie in a small muscular pouch called SCROTUM outside the ABDOMINAL CAVITY.

✔ This position of testes keeps the temperature about 2-3°C lower than the body temperature which is necessary for the development of male gametes (sperms).

❄❄ TWO MAJOR FUNCTIONS ❄❄

✔ It produces the male gametes known as SPERMS.

✔ It also produces the male sex hormone called TESTOSTERONE.

❄❄❄ MORE TO KNOW ❄❄❄

✔ The production of sperms starts in the testes on reaching the age of 14-15 years.

✔ The testes produce millions of sperms.

✔ Each sperm has a head, a middle piece and a tail.

✔ The tail of the sperm helps in its movement.
