• During the day, plants give out oxygen as a by-product of photosynthesis.This oxygen is essential for aerobic respiration- organisms, like us and other organisms.
• Some plants such as legumes have microbes such as Rhizobium,Acetobacter,Nostoc,Anabaena,Cyanobacteria living in their root nodules.These organisms convert atmospheric nitrogen into compounds of ammonia and thus are utilized by other animals when they consume them.

The ways by which animals are useful to plants:

• Animals give out carbon dioxide as a by-product of aerobic respiration.This carbon dioxide is used by plants to make starch during photosynthesis.
• Animals excrete wastes in the form of ammonia, urea, etc. These compounds are useful to plants.
