Mesophyll layer of the leaf plays an important role in trapping light energy from the sun upon which photosynthesis mostly take place in layer.why is this so?
Answers
Answer:
In plants, the process of photosynthesis takes place in the mesophyll of the leaves, inside the chloroplasts. Chloroplasts contain disc-shaped structures called thylakoids, which contain the pigment chlorophyll. Chlorophyll absorbs certain portions of the visible spectrum and captures energy from sunlight.
Hope it is helpfull..........
The mesophyll layer of the leaf plays an important role in trapping light energy from the sun upon which photosynthesis mostly takes place in layer because-
1. The mesophyll layer has a wide space and allows carbon dioxide to move.
2. The mesophyll layer is spongy and the tissues are packed in a loose manner to support efficient gas exchange.
3. During the day in the presence of the sunlight when photosynthesis is taking place, this layer enables oxygen to diffuse out and carbon dioxide to diffuse in.
