Meteors are the celestial bodies in space made up of dust or gasses and are present outside earth atmosphere.
Meteorites are the meteors which enter the earth atmosphere. The may survive or just burn up with the frictional heat or drag exerted on that object due to the Earth Gravity.
Since a few meteors enter earth's atmosphere so there are very few meteorites.
