Second, what keeps people from being open about addiction, theirs or someone they love? Stigma. They are afraid to get in trouble, be judged, lose their job or be shunned from their community.

Third, why do most support systems for addicts either not happen, get unfunded or take place in seedy basements? Stigma!

So, what if we approached it with less of an, “ew that's icky", additude and came at it with support and understanding. Would kids think it was as edgy and cool if they were hugged and helped? If the shock effect didn't work? Would people be more apt to get help before it went way to far if they knew they would be met with love and support? How many people would seek help if help was actually available?
