Out of these Mg^2+ ion has more ionization energy.

Because after losing 2 electrons it would achieve noble gas configuration. It will then become stable .

And that's why it is very difficult to remove an electron from the stable atom . Thus it requires a large amount of energy to isolate an atom from the valence shell.
