Answer:

Yes, he is correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Michael's home is 12 feet below sea level,

And, his mother's home is 12 feet above sea level,

That is, with respect to sea level Michael's home is towards north direction and his mother's home is towards south direction.

Thus, the position of Michael's home with respect to sea level = - 12,

And, the position of his mother's home with respect to sea level = + 12,

Since, the elevation is measured vertically.

⇒ Their home are at opposite elevation,

Hence, their home are at opposite elevation because of they are in opposite directions.

Michael’s home and his mother’s home  are at opposite elevations:

  • Let the sea level be the 0 mark, the starting mark to measure the elevations of both the houses.
  • Michaels home is 12 feet below sea level, which is -12 feet below the 0 mark.
  • Michael's mother's home is 12 feet above sea level, which is +12 feet above the 0 mark.
  • Since, both their homes are situated on the opposite side of the 0 mark, that is the sea level, their homes can be said to be situated in the opposite elevations.
