Microbial enzymes are recently used in place of chemical catalysts. This is because it creates fewer byproducts, lowers consumption of energy, lessens pollution caused to the environment and enhances nutritional value.

Enzymes possess comparatively better catalytic power and are able to work even under mild pressure, temperature and pH.

The substrates’ specificity is high and they perform well even in organic solvents.

Thus, there is no doubt that harmful chemical catalysts are best replaced with microbial enzymes.
