Mode of DNA replication in E. coli is semi conservative and bidirectional.

* DNA replication is bidirectional as replication takes place in both the directions, thereby forming the leading strand and the lagging strand.

* During replication, the two strands separate with one strand serving as the template. New nucleotides are added by base pairing with the template strand.

This is why it is known as the semi-conservative as a newly synthesised DNA has one parent strand and one new strand( daughter strand).
