36.The periodic table which is based on classification of element on the basis of electronic configuration is called modern periodic table.

On the basis of electronic configuration, the elements are classified into four blocks:

s- block elements- divided into two groups

p- block element- divided into six groups

d- block element- divided into ten groups

f- block element- divided into two series called lanthanide and actinides.
