As u can see acc. is frm 20 to 30s and retardation frm 30 to 40s.So jst calculate the area under d grph from 20 to 40s.So total area is area of triangle plus the small rectangle below it i.e. (1/2*20*3)+(20*1)=50m

= Rectangle area + Triangle Area

= Length * Width +  (1/2)Base * Height

=  (40-20) * (1-0)   +  (1/2)(40-20) (4-1)

=  20 *  1   +  (1/2)(20) (3)

= 20 + 30

= 50 m

or

Distance covered from 20 to 30 sec

= ((1 + 4)/2)*10 = 25 m

Distance covered from 30 to 40 sec

= ((4 + 1)/2)*10 = 25 m

Total Distance Covered = 25 + 25 = 50 m
