Because Sodium loses one electron and attain nearest inert gas configuration

Na=2,8,1
One electron loses
Na+=2,8

VK89: neon is noble metal. it's electronic configuration is 2,8,8. as it's octet is completed , it does not take part in the chemical reaction . therefore neon is stable
AMS119: who is asking you about neon?
AMS119: the question is about sodium
VK89: jhak mar

Na ion is more stable than sodium atom As na ion is already stable by receiving 1 ion whereas na atom is unstable or its last shell is incomplete so it is reactive but na ion is not...

Plz mark it as brainliest

.....

AMS119: well done. really nice answer
