bronze seems to be the desired metal for bells and cymbals… not sure if thats tradition combined with ease of working, or any tonal qualities… isnt the liberty bell and big ben both meant to be cast iron, that is renowned for absorbing vibration?

guitars tend to head for the nickel or phosphor bronze…

not sure what you make the keys on a xylophone from…swear ive seen aluminium, steel, and brass/bronze in use…

harder metals tend to ring more. hard steel will ring far better than lead. i dont think i have EVER heard lead make any type of noise other than “thud”. oh. “piiiyaaaw”…ricochets!

soft aluminium sounds clunky compared to the ping of good T6 6061 alloy…
