There is nothing called 'eco-friendly fossil fuel'. All fossil fuels emit a lot of carbon dioxide and/or carbon monoxide, and oxides of sulphur and nitrogen when burnt. These are no way good for the environment. However compressed and liquified natural gas can be good no sulphur no nitrogen fuels.

Natural gas is the cleanest fossil fuel. ... When burned, natural gas produces about 45 percent less carbon dioxide than coal, about 30 percent less than oil, and about 15 percent less than wood. Natural gas is extremely efficient when it combusts, producing heat, water vapor and carbon dioxide.
