The cytoplasmic extension used by amoeba for locomotion is called pseudopodia which makes an arm- like cover. It pushes its membrane outward during movement and it also functions as a support organ while engulging food during endocytosis process. Amoeba acquires its food through the process of endocytosis which means ingestion of macromolecules, low weight molecules and other particles from outside with the help of a portion of their cell membrane. The plasma membrane invaginates and extends further to enclose the extracellular material and engulfs them.
Nereis, a genus of polychaete worms in the family Nereidae consists of many species, also use pseudopodia for movement and mostly are marine.eg.Sandworm (Nereis virens)

The cytoplasmic extension used by amoeba for locomotion is a arm like structure called pseudopodia. It is also called as false feet. Psuedopodia is a temporary cytoplasmic extension by which amoeba moves this special movement is called amoeboid movement.
Amoeboid movement is the earliest form of locomotion in animals.
