The masses of atoms and molecules can be measured using an instrument called mass spectrometer. This instrument can be used to also measure their relative concentrations.

The mass spectrometer functions using the magnetic force that is applied on a charged particle that is in motion.

Atoms and molecules are the building units of matter. These particles are very very small.So to measure the masses of atoms and molecules we use an instrument called as  "Mass Spectrometer".

Working :
-->First the sample is ionized.
--> It passes through some form of electric and magnetic field.A particles mass can be calculated based on parameters such as how long it takes to travel a certain distance.
