Metal Carbonate reacts with acid to produce salt , water and carbon dioxide.
Metal carbonate + Acid ----> Salt + Water + Carbon dioxide.
Na2CO3 + HCl ---> 2NaCl + CO2 + H2O
Test for Carbon dioxide:
●Carbon dioxide turns lime water milky white.
Ca ( OH)2 + CO2 ----> CaCO3 + H2O
●If a burning match stick is brought near the CO2 gas it puts off the fire.
As CO2 is good fire extinguisher.
