The adrenal glands (also known as suprarenal glands) are endocrine glandsthat produce a variety of hormonesincluding adrenaline and the steroids aldosterone and cortisol. They are found above the kidneys. Each gland has anouter cortex which produces steroidhormones and an inner medulla.

System: Endocrine system

Artery: Superior, middle and inferior suprarenal arteries

Vein: Suprarenal veins

Lymph: Lumbar lymph nodes

The adrenal cortex—the outer part of the gland—produces hormones that are vital to life, such as cortisol (which helps regulate metabolism and helps your body respond to stress) and aldosterone (which helps control blood pressure).

Aldosteronethe is a steroid hormone produced by the zona glomerulosa of the adrenal cortex in the adrenal gland. It is essential for sodium conservation in the kidney, salivary glands, sweat glands and colon.

And the last one - The hormone is released in response to stress and low levels of blood sugar and its primary function is to increase blood sugar levels, suppress the immune system and aid in metabolism
