The heart itself. Like all other the cells the heart muscle cells require oxygen and nutrients in order to function. The heart supplies oxygenated blood to itself via the coronary arteries, which branch off from the aorta. The coronary arteries are very narrow, and thus commonly affected by atherosclerosis, which could lead to a heart attack.
