Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) coils and supercoils around certain proteins called histones to form beads in a string like structure known as chromatin.
Chromatin is present during G1, S and G2 phase of cell cycle.
But during cell division chromatin starts condensing, that means more supercoiling takes place to form short, stump, rod-like structures called chromosomes. Therefore we can say, DNA, chromatin, chromosome are same thing.
