When we heat sodium hydrogen carbonate (NaHCO₃) , sodium carbonate (Na₂CO₃) , Water (H₂O) are formed and carbon dioxide (CO₂) is evolved. This can be represented using the following reaction :-

2 NaHCO₃ (s) -----------> Na₂CO₃ ( s) + H₂O (l) + CO₂ (g)↑
