In this reaction, SO2 is changing to S. This is the removal of oxygen from SO2. Removal of oxygen is called reduction. Thus , SO2 is being reduced to S . Here the substance being reduced is Sulphur dioxide (SO2).
H2S is changing into S. This is the removal of hydrogen from H2S. The removal of hydrogen is called oxidation. Thus H2S is be oxidised to S. Here the substance be oxidised is hydrogen sulphide (H2S).
