When the author Mriganko Babu’s car runs out of petrol and he is stranded, he sends his driver to bring some petrol. As he is waiting for Sudheer’s return, he observes his surroundings. He finds a scarecrow in the middle of a barren field. The scarecrow was wearing a torn black and red printed shirt that seemed very familiar to the author.
As he looked on, he hears someone call out Babu to him. Mriganko Babu identifies the voice as that of Abhiram’s who was earlier a servant with the author. He was dismissed from service after being wrongly accused of the theft of the author’s gold watch. The author recognized the shirt as the one that he had bought for his servant. Abhiram told the author where he could find the watch and disappeared.
Suddenly, Mriganko Babu hears Sudheer’s voice calling out to him. He realized that he had fallen asleep inside the car thinking of a plot for his story with the pen in his hand. He saw the scarecrow standing on a wooden bamboo pole at a distance.
As soon as he reached home, the author looked for the watch in the place where Abhiram had told him. The watch was very much there and the author felt guilty. He felt that he had yet to become a good human being.
