A hemisphere of volume V is kept in a liquid of density ρ as shown in figure.

To find : The vertical thrust on the hemisphere due to liquid inside it is ...

solution : according to Archimedes principle,

vertical thrust acting on any body = weight of liquid displaced by the body.

here volume of hemisphere (body) = V

density of liquid = ρ

so, weight of liquid displaced by hemisphere = g

therefore the vertical thrust on the hemisphere due to liquid inside it is Vρg

so option (2) is correct choice.

Given that,

Volume of hemisphere = V

According to buoyant force,

When we apply vertically thrust on the hemisphere upwards then the buoyant force acting on the hemisphere due to displacement of water. That is placed independent of the shape of the hemisphere.

We need to find the vertical thrust on the hemisphere

Using buoyant force

Displaced\ weight = V\rho g

W=V\rho g

Where, V = volume

p = density of water

g = acceleration due to gravity

Hence, The vertical thrust on the hemisphere is Vpg.

(1) is correct option.
