nirmaljit says to his son 7 yrs ago i was 7 times as old as you were and after5 yrs i qill be 5 times as old as you will be. Find present age​

Let the ages of Nirmaljit and his son be A and B respectively, then;

(A - 7) = 7(B-7)

or, A = 7B - 49 + 7

or, A = 7B - 42 .....(1)

And, (A+5) = 5(B+5)

or, A = 5B + 25 - 5

or, A = 5B + 20 ......(2)

Forming single equation from (1)and (2); we get,

7B - 42 = 5B + 20

or, 2B = 20 + 42 = 62

or, B = 31 years

Hence, their present ages are (5×31+20) = 155+20 = 175 years and 31 years respectively.
