Nitrogen cycle

Cycling of Nitrogen in biosphere through its different states and forms is called Nitrogen cycle.

Nitrogen cycle consists of following processes :-

1) Nitrification

2)Nitrogen fixation

3)Ammonification

4)Dentrification

Mixing of atmospheric Nitrogen into soil through different biological, natural and industrial processes is called Nitrification.Nitrogen is converted into Nitrate .

Biological process :- Microbes

Natural process :- Lightning and Thundering.

Industrial process :- Nitrogen containing products like fertilizers.

Nitrogen fixation :- Fixing of Nitrogen from atmosphere directly into plants root by microbes is called Nitrogen fixation .

ex:- Nitrogen fixation by Rhizobium in Leguminous plant.

Ammonification :- When any plant or animal dies then the complex Nitrogen substances present in the body is converted into ammonia by different microbes is called Ammonification.

Dentrification :- Removal of Nitrogen from soil directly into atmosphere is called Dentrification. It is done by various microbes like pseudomonas removal.
