the statement is absolutely correct that non metallic oxides are acidic oxides as when we add water to the non metallic oxides they will form acid that's why they are commonly known as acidic oxides.
when oxide of Nitrogen reacts with water then it form nitric acid similarly when sulphur trioxide reacts with water then it form Sulphuric acid which is a strong acid.
oxide of carbon that is carbon dioxide when react with water then it form carbonic acid.
