  • Nephron is the functional unit of a kidney.

  • There are millions of nephrons in a kidney.

  • The nephrons help in blood filtration.

  • Two processes take place in a nephron to filter blood.

  • The first process is called ultra-filtration.

  • In this process the blood passes through the arteries through the glumerulus, where the blood filters out the waste materials In the blood because of pressure created there.

  • The second process is called re-absorption.

  • In this process, the blood passes through tublules and henle's loop. Here, the capillaries re-absorb the water and nutrients from the urine.

  • Further, the urine is collected in to collecting duct.

  • It further passes through ureter and reaches urinary bladder.

  • Through urethra, the waste is removed from the body.
