Hi. I hope this answer helps you.

All of these terms, bonus, recognition, job security and competition are related to an individuals work life.

Bonus, recognition and job security are things that an individual is most concerned about during his/her job. They need all of these three things in order to be motivated.

However, I believe competition is the odd one out. This is because it is a term that has a negative connotation as compared to the other three terms.

An employee gets a bonus when his/her performance is well in the company and they get a reward for it in addition to their salary.

Job security is when a person does not have a threat of losing his job. He is at peace knowing that the company will not fire or lay him off under any circumstances. Be it due to his own or the company's performance.

Recognition from an employee's boss and fellow colleagues helps him/her stay motivated.

Where as, competition at the job plays a negative role. It may be a threat for the employee in case his competitor's performance is better and it might eventually demotivate him.

Therefore, competition is the odd one out of the three motivating factors at job.

Answer:

The odd one out is Competition.

Explanation:

  • All of these terms, such as bonus, recognition, job security, and competition, are associated with a person's work life.
  • Individuals are most concerned about bonuses, recognition, and job security while at work. They require all three of these things in order to be motivated.
  • When an employee's performance in the company is good, he or she receives a bonus in addition to their salary.
  • When a person's job is secure, he is not in danger of losing it. He is at ease knowing that he will not be fired or laid off under any circumstances. Whether as a result of his own or the company's performance.
  • Employees who receive recognition from their bosses and coworkers are more likely to stay motivated.
  • On the other hand, job competition is detrimental. It could be a threat to the employee if his competitor's performance is superior, and it could eventually demotivate him.

All the other terms except Competition are positive terms which are in favour of worker directly while Competition is does not have direct positive impact on the worker's lihe.

Hence, Competition is the odd one out.
