The first Legend of Zelda game appeared on the Famicom Disk System in 1986. It was later converted into a cartridge game for the American NES.

The Fairy Fountain theme first appeared in A Link to the Past, played on the file selection screen and inside Fairy Fountains. Since then, the song has appeared in every installment of the series, with the exception of Link's Awakening, Oracle of Seasons, and Oracle of Ages. The theme is inspired by the map theme for World 3, Water Land, from Super Mario Bros 3.
