On heating 'green' coloured 'ferrous sulphate crystals', "reddish brown solid" is left and 'smell' of a gas having 'odour of burning sulphur' is experienced. The reaction is a "thermal decomposition reaction".

EXPLANATION:

'Thermal decomposition reaction' is also called as 'thermolysis' and is "chemical decomposition" caused by heat. In this reaction, the need of heat is to break the 'bonds' in the compound. The decomposition temperature is the 'temperature' at which the compound decomposes.
