on melting of ice there is decrease of volume instead of increase why?​

When ice melts, it's volume should increase but due to abnormal properties, it actually decreases. This happens up to 4 degree centigrade. The reason behind this is the cohesive forces. As temperature of water increases its cohesive forces gets stronger, so volume decreases
