x-5%=11400

x=11400.05

20%*11400.05=2280.01 is gain amount

he should sell at 11400.05+2280.01

=13680.06

Answer:

Selling Price of the watch=Rs.11400

On that S. P the shopkeeper incurs a loss of 5% i.e.

Los =5%

Now find the cost price of the watch,

So,

 \\ C.P \: of \: the \: watch = \frac{100}{100 - loss\% \: in \: the \: transaction} \times selling \: price \: of \: the \: watch \\ \\ C.P \: of \: the \: watch = \frac{100}{100 - 5} \times 11400 \\ \\ C.P \: of \: the \: watch = Rs \: 12000

Therefore,

Cost Price of the watch=Rs.12000

Now we will find the desired C. P that the shopkeeper should sell to gain a profit of 20%.

So,

 \\ C.P = \frac{100 + gain\% \: for \: which \: the \: watch \: should \: be \: sold \: \: }{100} \times cost \: price \\ \\ C.P = \frac{100 + 20}{100} \times 12000 \\ \\ C.P = Rs.14,400

Therefore,

the desired cost price at which the watch should be sold to gain a profit of 20% is Rs 14,400.
