Aurangazeb (1618 - 1707) was the sixth Mughal emporer who ruled from 1658 to 1707, until his death.

During his rule, he annexed several kingdoms and the Mughal empire spread over almost the whole of India. He annexed Bundelkhand, Baglana, Bijapur, Bidar and Golconda.

However, his reign was mired in controversies and criticisms, which ultimately led to the downfall of the empire.

The main criticisms arose from his religious intolerance, which included razing down of Hindu temples and forced conversion of non-muslims.
