Portia is unhappy about her father's will which he has decided for her to get her wealth. The man who chooses the right casket will be portia's husband and who guesses it wrong will swear to never marry again,leave the palace immediately and not talk to portia. Portia even ridicules the hilarious things about all the suitors who have come to test their luck.
