                               The Boy Who Was Brave

Once there was a boy, Ramesh, who bragged endlessly. He would tell all his friends in school that he could walk in a jungle alone in the middle of the night, that he fought with a tiger when he went on a safari, that he chased a ghost in the hostel etc. All his friends believed him and worshipped like a hero.

But there was one boy in the class who never believed Ramesh. His name was Raju. Once Raju got vexed with the bragging of Ramesh and wanted to teach him a lesson in front of the entire class. Now, all the boys slept in the same dormitory in the hostel. One night after dinner, Raju stayed awake till every body slept. He wore a white gown that he borrowed from one of the girls and with ver quiet footsteps approached Ramesh's bed and stood next to him. Ramesh, who was in deep sleep, was awakened by a small sound next to his bed and opened his eyes. Seeing the white figure in front of him, his body turned cold and he stared with utter fear looking at the 'ghost'. Raju, in the garb of a ghost slowly sat on the bed and whispered in Ramesh's ear.

With that, Ramesh got the shock of his life and yelled at the top of his voice and collapsed on the floor. The lights went on and all the other boys were woken up from their sleep. As Raju narrated the story, the boys made fun of Ramesh and from that day onwards, Ramesh stopped boasting and bragging to the boys.

                                                Bragging Boy

Once there lived a boy who bragged endlessly. His friends did not like it. They brought the matter to their teacher’s notice. The teacher promised to find some solution to it.

A few days afterwards, the teacher in the class asked, “Today, each student will tell the class about his forte.” So, each student one by one shared with the class the field he/she was extremely good at. Most of the students honestly confessed they were not exceptionally good at anything.

Finally, it was the bragging boy’s turn. He began to blow his trumpet, “I am exceptionally good at many things; but no one can bat like me. I can hit a boundary at any ball. Soon, I will be playing for Indian Cricket Team.”

The teacher invited the entire class to go to the ground immediately. He said to the boy, “Kindly show us your batting abilities. And I will do the bowling myself.”

The teacher was a good player of cricket in his youth. He had played cricket for his district and state. The braggart went to the batting crease and the teacher was ready for the bowling. The entire class stood excited to see the tussle between bat and ball.

The teacher came running and bowled the ball. The entire class saw the ball whizz through the air and bowled the braggart out.  The entire class jumped in jubilation.

The braggart boy felt so ashamed. After this incident, he never ever bragged about anything.
