The net work done on idea gas is 606 J.

Explanation:

(i) work done along AB:

W1 = area ABFEA = EA × EF

W1 = (5 × 1.01 × 10^5)×2×10−3=1010 J

(ii) Work done along BC:

W2 = P(dV) = Zero

(iii) Work done along CD:

W3 = −area CDEFC = −ED × EF

W3 = −(2 ×1.01 × 10^5) × 2 × 10^−3

W3 = −404 J

(iv) work done along DA:

W4 = P(dV) = Zero

  • Net work done in process

W = W1 + W2 + W3 + W(4)

= 1010 + 0 − 404 + 0

=606 J

Thus the net work done on idea gas is 606 J.
