It is quite true presence of mind is a great quality. If Michael did not have presence of mind, Sebastian Shultz would never have been able to come out of the virtual reality game. While playing Wildwest he was very sharp to sense the strangeness of the second sheriff. He was completely different from the other characters in the game. After the game he was equally responsive to the Shultz's messages. If he had not sensed Shultz's presence in all the games, and not played all the games, Shultz would never come out of his coma.
