one number is 7 more than another and its square is 77 more than the square of the smaller number .what are the numbers

Let the nos be x-7 and x
Then ,
x²-77 = (x-7)²
14x = 49+77 = 126
x = 9
The nos : 2 , 9

Let the numbers be x and y
given:-
x=7+y
x²=77+y²
(7+y)²=77+y²
49+14y+y²=77+y²
on cancelling the terms
14y=28
y=2

hence:-
x=9
y=2
