Write the two digit number as 10x + y

:

"One of the two digits of a two digit number, is 3 times the other digit."

x = 3y

:

If u inter change the digit of this two digit number, and add the resulting

number to original number, you get 88.

(10y + x) + (10x + y) = 88

Combine like terms

11y + 11x = 88

Simplify, divide by 11

y + x = 8

We know x = 3y, therefore

y + 3y = 8

4y = 8

y = 8/4

y = 2 is the units digit

then

x = 3(2)

x = 6 is the 10's digit

:

62 if the original number
