age of me =x-1
age of dad=8(x-1)

if age of me =7
age of dad=7²=49
one year back,
my age=7-1=6
dad age=8(6)=48
verification,
dad age one year back=49-1=48
quadratic equation=x²-1=8(x-1)
x²-1=8x-8
x²-1+8-8x=0
x²-8x+7=0
