One zero of x³ –12x² + 47x – 60 is 3 and the remaining two zeroes are the number of trees planted by two students. (i) Find the total number of trees planted by both students. (ii) Which moral value of the students is depicted here?

i)
GIVEN that 3 is a zero of the polynomial   x³ - 12x²  + 47x - 60 .

Let f(x) =   x³ –12x²  + 47x  - 60 .
Since 3 is a zero of f(x) , then (x-3) is a factor of f(x)

On dividing  f(x) by (x-3)

x-3 ) x³ -12x² +47x -60 (x²- 9x +20
x³ -3x²
(-)  (+)
-------------
 -9x² +47x -60
 -9x² +27x
 (+)    (-)
--------------------
20x -60
20x -60
(-)     (+)
--------------
0

Here Quotient is x²- 9x +20 and remainder is zero.
Factorize the Quotient by splitting the middle term.

x²- 9x +20 = x²-5x -4x +20
= x(x-5) -4(x-5)
= (x-5) (x-4)

For zeroes of f(x) ,put f(x) = 0
(x-5) (x-4) = 0
x= 5 , x=4
The other two zeros of f(x) are 5 & 4.

Given: Number of trees planted by 2 students = the remaining two zeros of f(x)
Hence, the total number of trees planted by both students = (5+4 ) = 9.

ii) Love for environment, eco-friendly, etc.
