Let the number be x.

Given that 1/2 is subtracted from a number and the difference is multiplied by 4, the result is 5.

= > (x - 1/2) * 4 = 5

= > 4x - 2 = 5

= > 4x = 7

= > x = 7/4.

Therefore the number is 7/4.

verification:

= > 4x - 2 = 5

= > 4(7/4) - 2 = 5

= > 7 - 2 = 5

= > 5 = 5

Hope this helps!

Hey! I hope you are doing great!!

Let the required number be x.

1/2 subtracted from number = x-1/2
                                             = 2x-1 / 2

The difference multiplied by four = 4*(2x-1 /2)
                                                    = 4x -2

According to statement, 4x-2=5
                                       4x=7
                                         x=7/4

Thus, the required number is 7/4 (or 1.75).

Hope this helps you!!!

Keep Smiling!! :)
