out of 'F' &'Cl' ------  'Cl'  has greater ELECTRON AFFINITY'' .
REASON ; 'Cl' has greater size in comparision to 'F' and hence nuclear charge reduces
note; Electron gain enthapy is also called as electron affinity.

"Chlorine has more "negative electron gain enthalpy" in a periodic table.

"Electron gain enthalpy" is defined as the "quantity of energy" liberated when an "electron is added" to an "isolated gaseous atom".

The "energy released" when an "electron is accepted" is called as negative electron gain enthalpy.

According to periodicity, F have the most negative electron gain enthalpy. The atomic size of F is too small because it does not have d orbital and they are closely packed. Due to repulsive forces between nucleus and electrons, F do not permit further addition of an electron.

Cl as larger than F. Due to the presence of d orbitals in Cl, the electrons are distant from each other which makes electron addition easier.

Therefore, Chlorine has more negative electron gain enthalpy in a periodic table."
