Overuse of pesticides should be avoided as much as possible because it has a huge negative impact on the environment and health of people and other non-target animals.

Here we are referring to the use of chemical ones.  

They

• pollute the soil, water (esp. underground water resources) and air.
• alter the soil fertility drastically.
• affect non-target animals including livestock in the area and nearby.
• cause various health issues in the persons who apply them in the fields and those living nearby.

• contaminate the produce and deplete its nutritional value.
• cause serious illnesses in people who consume foods contaminated with  them.
