Hey here's your answer
In respiration, the energy from theoxidation of glucose and the reduction of oxygen is captured in ATP. Organic molecules that have plenty of hydrogen are rich in energetic electrons that release their potential energy when they fall closer to oxygen.

The process of glycolysis refers to breaking down of glucose into two molecules of pyruvic acid.

Reasons:

Absence of Oxygen: The fermentation of lactic acid will occur when there is no oxygen. The pyruvic acid is then converted into lactic acid. The pyruvic acid is also broken down into alcohol without the presence of oxygen.

Presence of Oxygen: During the Kerb’s cycle, acetyl CoA is formed from pyruvic acid when oxygen is present and is responsible for the complete oxidation of glucose.

Hence, oxygen is required for the complete oxidation of glucose.
