It is given that ,

p( x ) = x⁴ + 4x³ + 5x² - 7x - 3 ,

s( x ) = x² - 1

x² - 12) x⁴+4x³+5x²-7x-3(x²+4x+17
*******x⁴ + 0 - 12x²
________________
***********4x³ + 17x² - 7x
***********4x³ + 0 - 48x
___________________
*****************17x² + 41x - 3
*****************17x² + 0 - 204
______________________
***********************41x + 201

Quotient = x² + 4x + 17

Remainder = 41x + 201
